Going Green

With rising concerns about safety, health and the environment we at Dewey Pest & Wildlife are proud to offer a“green” residential pest service.  While many of the methods employ IPM (Integrated Pest Management) the materials can be different.  Fortunately a large variety of products exist that provide highly effective means of controlling pests using “green” and/or “natural products.  Some are biological materials such as plant extracts and diatomaceous earth, while others may be ground stone dusts.  When you hire us you will receive the benefit of our highly trained technicians, experience and commitment to the jobs we perform.

IPM-An environmentally friendly approach to Pest Management

Dewey is a member of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Register.  IPM is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on common-sense practices while reducing reliance on pesticides. IPM programs use a number of pest management methods, including sanitation, exclusion, mechanical and the lowest risk pesticides possible.   Dewey is committed to providing the best pest management by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.

Dewey Pest & Wildlife has utilized IMP since it started doing business in 1991.  Our business model is based on being as friendly to the earth as possible while delivering a complete and effective line of pest management and wildlife services.  As the eco-friendly (green) movement gains momentum there are more products being developed in this area.  We continually try new methods and products to ensure that we are providing the best possible solution available on the market.

Dewey Pest & Wildlife makes efforts to operate our business in an environmentally responsible manner and recognize that reducing the impact of our services and operations is important.  Below are some of the steps Dewey Pest & Wildlife is taking to reduce the amount of waste we produce.

1.     Utilize Route Mapping Technology when scheduling technicians to ensure the most efficient schedule, saving gas.

2.     Recycle paper

3.     Save water by installing low flow toilets

4.     Installing a water filter for drinking water eliminating the need for bottled water.

5.     Stocking the kitchen with reusable items such as utensils, cups, mugs, and dishes.

6.     Offering on-line billing to reduce paper invoices.

7.     Replace outdated office equipment with more efficient models and recycling toner cartridges

 Green Pest Control Program

With rising concerns about safety, health and the environment we at Dewey Pest & Wildlife are proud to offer a “green” residential pest service.  While both our traditional program and green program utilize IPM the green plans use organic, plant based, materials or materials of a natural origin.  Fortunately a large variety of products exist that provide highly effective means of controlling pests using “green” and/or “natural products.  Some are biological materials such as plant extracts and diatomaceous earth, while others may be ground stone dusts.

Is it as effective as the Traditional HOS Program?

The Green Program can be just as effective as the traditional program if all the structural modifications and repairs and advice of the Dewey technician are followed.

What is the difference between the Green Program and Traditional HOS Program?

Our green plan follows the foundation IPM that of our traditional plan with the exception of the type of pesticide applied.  The green plan used naturally occurring and low risk materials as the primary pest control
